Only complete protection of Ukrainian skies will protect both Ukraine and Europe from a possible escalation of Russian aggression and will certainly encourage the Russian Federation to end the war.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said so in his video addressreports Ukrinform.
“It was only in the first half of today that our defense forces managed to shoot down six Russian cruise missiles and five Shaheds. Unfortunately, not all of those launched by terrorists,” he said .
The president said dozens of people were injured in the Russian missile attack on Dnipro on Thursday.
In Zaporizhzhia, work is underway to clear the rubble from the site of a residential building destroyed by Russian shelling. Seven people were killed. Unfortunately, that number could increase, Zelensky said.
“We repeat again and again to our partners that only complete protection of Ukrainian skies will protect both Ukraine and Europe from many possible escalations of Russian aggression and will certainly encourage Russia to truly end the war. Not to the kind of propaganda now ringing out from the Kremlin about the alleged willingness for negotiations to buy time and gather forces for a new offensive, but to real peace,” he said.
Zelensky also thanked Finland and Sweden for the decisions on new defense support programs for Ukraine.
“This is very important. Each of these decisions by states makes them co-creators of our victory and future peace,” the president said.
Russia has carried out massive missile attacks against Ukraine, mainly against energy infrastructure.
