Handicap International/Humanity & Inclusion (HI) is an independent and impartial international solidarity organization which intervenes in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflicts and disasters. Alongside people with disabilities and vulnerable populations, it acts and speaks out to meet their basic needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights. More information: www.hi.org
HI is committed to an employment policy in favor of disabled workers.
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a full-scale military operation in Ukraine, with land, land and sea incursions leading to multiple active conflict fronts across the country. As of October 25, 2022, 670,158 people entered Moldova from Ukraine, of which 95,728 refugees remained in the Republic of Moldova. The number of refugee arrivals depends on the intensity of the conflict and the location of the Russian attacks.
In response to the refugee crisis, the government, the UN and partners have launched the Inter-Agency Regional Refugee Response Plan (RRP), calling for sustained financial support to help refugees and Moldovan families hosting them. . The RRP focuses on protection, basic needs, health and nutrition, education, livelihoods and inclusion, logistics, supply and telecommunications.
In Moldova, HI is currently funded by Lux MoFA, ADH and AFD and implements inclusive humanitarian action, MHPSS and protection activities.
HI works in refugee accommodation and community centers and offers individual MHPSS sessions for children and adults in severe and moderate distress and different group activities for children, adolescents and adults aimed at emotional relief. In addition, HI distributes non-food items to contribute to dignified access to services.
HI Moldova is currently developing its 2023 operational strategy, in which the provision of MHPSS activities and the coverage of basic protection needs at community level for refugee and host populations will be essential.
Under the leadership of the Moldova country manager, with the support of the relevant technical referents (regional/headquarters), and in close coordination with the other project managers.
The project manager will contribute to the implementation and monitoring of the intervention of HI’s partners in the country by providing coordination and technical expertise in the thematic areas directly or indirectly related to protection (case management, inclusion , food assistance, health).
