DVIDS – News – Trade-in Protection Plans Protect Military Buyers’ Purchases

DALLAS – Army and Air Force Exchange Service shoppers can purchase the peace of mind to take their big ticket items.

The Department of Defense retailer offers Exchange protection plans, powered by Asurion, on electronics, jewelry, home appliances and more. The plans cover the most common factors that can damage or destroy items, such as accidental damage from handling (on portable electronic devices); breakdowns due to heat, dust and humidity; surges; and wear and tear.

Buyers can add protection plans to their TV purchases in-store or online; game consoles; computers; electronic accessories; jewelry and watches; Appliances; lawn and garden articles, sunglasses; and more for as little as 2% of the price of the protected item.

For electronic devices that connect to Wi-Fi, Exchange protection plans also come with 24/7 technical support to help with new device setup, smart home setup, troubleshooting Wi-Fi, optimization of settings and more.

For buyers who buy Apple computers, smartphones, tablets, TVs, watches, and more, there’s AppleCare + protection to cover screen damage, theft, batteries, and more. Because Apple makes the hardware, the operating system, and many applications, Apple products are integrated systems. AppleCare + provides service and support from the people who know Apple products the best, allowing buyers to receive one-stop service and support from Apple experts, with most issues resolved with a single call.

“Where you shop matters, and the Exchange and AppleCare + protection plans are two ways Exchange helps the military community get the most out of their shopping experience,” said Chief Master Sgt. the Air Force. Kevin Osby, Senior Enlisted Exchange Advisor. “Buying a big ticket item is an investment, and these plans help buyers protect that investment.”

Trade-in protection plans come in different terms, from a year to a lifetime warranty, depending on the item.

Online shoppers, including honorably discharged veterans who have verified their eligibility to use their lifetime benefit on ShopMyExchange.com, can add Protection or AppleCare + plans at checkout. In-store shoppers, including veterans with a service-related disability and Department of Defense and Coast Guard civilians, can speak to an associate at checkout to add a plan.
